2D Artist (Illustration + Game Assets)

Antebellum Digital Softwares Ltd is a UK-based startup building innovative games and software, with a mission to empower students, graduates, and early-stage creators. We’re passionate about helping new talent gain hands-on experience, build real skills, and create industry-grade work in a collaborative environment.

We’re looking for a 2D Artist to join our game development team. This role combines creativity and technical understanding, helping to bring characters, environments, and UI elements to life through expressive and consistent art.

We’re not hiring professionals. We’re looking for early-stage talent, people who are still learning but have a strong grasp of 2D art fundamentals and a passion for growing in the games industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and create 2D assets such as characters, backgrounds, icons, and UI elements

  • Collaborate with game designers and developers to ensure assets match gameplay needs.

  • Contribute to the overall visual style and aesthetic of the game

  • Prepare layered artwork and sprite sheets suitable for implementation in-engine

  • Iterate on feedback and help maintain visual consistency across the project

What We’re Looking For

  • A solid understanding of drawing, colour theory, composition, and stylisation

  • Experience using tools like Photoshop, Krita, Clip Studio Paint, or similar

  • Basic knowledge of how 2D assets are used in games (sprites, tilemaps, UI design, etc.)

  • A portfolio or collection of work, even if experimental or incomplete

  • Someone who enjoys bringing ideas to life visually and thrives on collaboration

Compensation

This is an equity-based opportunity. More details will be shared with shortlisted applicants.

Location

This job is fully remote. We welcome applicants from anywhere. Strong communication and a willingness to collaborate are what matter most.

Why Join AD Softwares?

  • Work on a real indie game project with a passionate team

  • Grow both creatively and professionally in a supportive environment

  • Build a portfolio that reflects real-world collaboration and iteration

  • Be part of a studio that values creativity, curiosity, and exploration, not perfection

How to Apply

Please send:

  • A short introduction about yourself

  • A few samples of your 2D art (sketches, concepts, finished work, anything!)

  • A quick note on your preferred tools and experience level
